GENERAL HOSPITAL FAN WEEKEND

Hi everyone!

Well, fan club weekend is almost here.  Can you believe it?  Seems we were just celebrating the new year and now, here we are, just a couple of weeks away!  It's going to be an awesome weekend, for those of you who are still able to make it.  Because of this horrible economy, so many people are not able to come.  Whether you are a veteran of this event weekend, or if this is your first time to come, it is an incomparable experience.

And again, because of the economy, the size of our events have dropped, so this is the very best time for you, since you are already there, to add another event or two to your weekend agenda as you are never going to get the opportunity to visit with your favorites from General Hospital in these smaller venues!  Take a look at our list of events and pick yet another to attend.  Come and get to know an actor that you might not have thought would be "your cup of tea" at an event that will allow you to spend time getting to know that individual.  It's a lot of fun!  And it can be really surprising!  I've done it myself on many occasions and walked away thinking "who would ever have thought??"  Ha!

We've had a time change for Brandon's event, and we've added an event with Drew and Lexi, the next generation for General Hospital, in light of Julie Berman having to cancel her event.  All the details are below, and we hope that you will be able to join us!

Oh, and for those of you who are going from Derk and Carolyn's event on to Jason and Kimberly's event, please don't worry about getting out early from one to check into another.  We will be pre-checking in people for that event at Derk and Carolyn's breakfast, so you'll be fine!  And the same is true if you are coming to Rick's event from Jason and Kimberly's.  We will be pre-checking in people at J/K's event for Rick's so don't worry about getting out early or missing anything.  It's all taken care of!

Thank you again for signing up for one or more of our events!  We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Best,
Debby O

Subject: Rick Hearst Update!

Hi everyone, and Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Just a quick note to let you know that yesterday was Rick's final day at General Hospital, and today was his first day at The Bold and The Beautiful.  Everything happened more quickly than I anticipated, but he's off and running, and has taped his first day at CBS.  Happily there was mail waiting for him when he got there ... thank you so much for that!

Again, if you'd like to leave a note on his guest book, please do so at www.RickHearst.com.  You may also begin writing to him in care of The Bold and The Beautiful at 7800 Beverly Blvd., Suite 3371
Los Angeles, CA 90036.  He loves hearing from you.

For those of you who have been concerned, yes, he will still be doing his fan club event in July at the Airtel Plaza hotel.  We hope that you will come and enjoy this last fan club weekend Italian brunch with Rick and his family as this one promises to be the most special one ever, and that's saying something.

Have a great weekend, and get ready!  He's going to go from one personae to another in a heartbeat very, very soon!

Best,
Debby O

The Show Will Go On!

The National Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences has announced that the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, August 30, on the CW at 8 p.m. EST. The ceremony will be held at the historic Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. "From the extravagant red carpet to the great entertainment, the viewer will experience the show through new approaches which will make this year's show more robust and relevant than ever before," says NATAS president Frank Radice.

Nominations will be announced on Thursday, May 14. Some of them will be revealed on NBC's TODAY with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. The complete list will be available later that evening at an event at Manhattan's Hearst Tower, the home of Good Housekeeping magazine, the official print partner of the Daytime Emmy Awards.

Soap Goes Hi-Def!

Now you can see your GENERAL HOSPITAL favorites even more up close! Starting Thursday, April 23, the soap will be broadcast in high-definition. "The people and places in Port Charles will never look better," says Brian Scott Frons, president of ABC Daytime. The entire GH set was recently outfitted with new lighting that takes advantage of the HD technology — and Broadcasting & Cablereports that the overall project cost $3 million!

EMMY AWARD-WINNING “GENERAL HOSPITAL” GOES
HIGH-DEFINITION IN TIME FOR MAY SWEEPS

Switch Coincides with Debut of New Hospital Set While Celebrating 46 Years on ABC

Continuing ABC’s lead in providing quality programming with high production values, “General Hospital” will be broadcast in HDTV beginning THURSDAY, APRIL 23, the first day of the May 2009 sweep. Also, the series’ new nurses’ hub set will debut a week earlier to coincide with storyline, as the newly refurbished hospital reopens following a massive explosion that rocked the medical facility. The announcement was made by Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group.

“Our loyal viewers will be very pleased with the technology that provides top notch video and audio quality, and shows our commitment to the production of this long-running series, as well as the daytime drama genre. The people and places in Port Charles will never look better,” says Frons.

In addition, other upgrades to production include a faster and more efficient way of recording daily episodes onto computer servers that allow the show producers to use materials faster for post production and distribution purposes, as well as new set lighting that takes advantage of HD technology. Furthermore, the hospital set – including a second story – brings a fresh and contemporary new look to the long-running series, allowing for more interaction among the show’s cast.

“General Hospital” becomes the second show in the network’s daytime lineup to be produced in high-definition, after the award-winning “The View” made the transition in 2006. ABC currently broadcasts the majority of its primetime schedule in HDTV, as well as the weekday and weekend editions of the top-rated and popular news programGood Morning America” and late-night’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

The message boards have been buzzing and my email has been inundated since late last week's article about both Rick and Greg possibly being put on recurring status or released from General Hospital.  All I can say to you is that if you are unhappy with anything going on, story line or otherwise, you should make your voices heard.  And there is no time like the present.

I encourage you to call the comment line and/or write to the executives in charge of the show, as well as to the magazines.  Please keep your comments positive and to the point, supporting whom you choose but absolutely not writing negative, demeaning comments about anyone you don't.  That serves no purpose, and is not what either Rick or Greg would want.

The comment line number for General Hospital is 323-671-4583.

********************************************************************************
We all love TV, don't we? (Some people just won't admit. For me... it started with Romper Room, Mr. Rogers and The Flintstones. Actually, I made my TV debut on Wonderama (anyone remember that show?) and was on a few Cerebral Palsy Telethons in New York. Then, my onscreen career kind of fizzled...

But I continued watching...The Partridge Family caught my eye Then came Carol Burnett and Mary Tyler Moore ...and who doesn't enjoy a classic I Love Lucy now and then!

Like any teen of the time, I was mesmorized by Charlie's Angels and The Bionic Woman... I also had a huge crush on One Day At A Time's, Valerie Bertinelli, laughed out loud at Three's Company... and stumbled through cases with Simon & Simon.

Mom got me into daytime drama. Santa Barbara will always be #1 in my book...but I've enjoyed Ryan's Hope, All My Children, and Another World too. When "soaps" hit Primetime Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest...and especially Knot's Landing became must-see TV.

My current faves include:Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, ER, Maggie Winters, Sunset Beach...and, of course, Judge Judy

I have been fortunate enough to meet some of my favorite stars... such as cast members from Santa Barbara, Murphy Brown, Sunset Beach, ER, Maggie Winters ...AND OTHERS.

You can read about some of those experiences by clicking on the links above.

I like movies, too.

My favorite actresses are:
Faith Ford, Goldie Hawn and Reese Witherspoon
Favorite Actors:
Rick Hearst, Kenneth Brannagh and George Clooney

Favorite Films:
LEGALLY BLONDE ( 1 & 2)

DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

GONE WITH THE WIND

SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS
MISS CONGENIALITY (1 & 2)
PRIVATE BENJAMIN

THE  PACIFIER

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

BUTTERFLIES ARE FREE

FOUL PLAY

THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE

THE HANDMAID'S TALE
The book is even better though!)
CARPOOL GUY
...just to name a few.

I highly recommend all of the above...Well worth renting!

There's more on the way...so enjoy! Thanks for visiting! And please come back soon... and often!
